Esperance (By Simon & Liz)

Thanks to Lavonne's suggestion we have added a travel log to the bottom of our blogs (sorry Lavonne it is in km's... you'll have to convert to miles!!!)

The trip from Newman Rock to Esperance was a welcome short drive passing many salt plains and beautiful Salmon Gums which only grow in the Western Australian Gold Fields.

Arriving in Esperance both Liz and I were a little disappointed after spending 3 days in the splendor and isolation of the Nullarbor. The town itself is nice enough (reminded us of Warnambool back in Vic) but nothing like the pictures you see of Esperance.

The next day, however, did not disappoint!! We travelled out to Cape Le Grande National Park... the pictures below don't do it justice!! The first is from the top of Frenchman's Peak and the others at Lucky Bay.

We drove back to Esperance along the beach (22km) stopping at more sand dunes, a quick swim in the crystal clear water and to take some more pictures (by the way driving on the beach is awesome!).

Travel Log:
- Newman Rock to Esperance: 350km
- Total: 3004km
